lutf-e khiraam-e saaqii-o-zauq-e sadaa-e chang
yih jannat-e nigaah vuh firdaus-e gosh hai
the grace of the Cupbearear’s gait, and the relish of the lute’s sound
this is a heaven of the eye; that, a paradise of the ear

unending treasures from aftab, busy as he is having become a papa^2! i am having a very hard time selecting favourites here–radhubabu’s superb patdeep for bbc(?) with chatur lal, paluskar’s basant that i am hearing for the first time, nissar hussain’s chhayanat in a very clean recording, roshanara’s lovely jhinjhoti–and a warm welcome to arnab! thats all i have heard so far–its going to be a busy weekend. thank you aftab!
and taimur thank you for spreading the word among sarangi.info subscribers to frances pritchett’s superb ghalib website.
vinay
i meant to say…and leading them to frances pritchett’s website.
Vinay, thank you for the appreciation!
Thanks again Vinay! I am leaning towards the instrumental stuff this time (Vilayat’s Lalit and Dagar’s Puriya) but I agree with the Basant and Chhayanat…
Delighted to hear Shahid Parvez saheb’s Rageshri. A truly outstanding performance and a model for students seeking knowledge and development on this particular raag.
I agree
The Umeed Ali Khan “Hindol Bahar” is sang with Shamshad Kasur
A very grateful thank you to Aftab Sahib, for his efforts to share all this wonderful music. This is, indeed, a rare treat.

There s a beautiful Taleem session in Bhimpalashi, Gaur Sarang by amir khan & a general rec. of Bhavkauns.
Is there any stuff of anant manohar joshi ji here of tarapada babu here? I have there long recordings like bhimpalashi, yaman, marwa, bhatiyar, jaijaiwanti, shree etc. They r both great artists.
Swaroop, do you have the complete Marwa, Shree, or Bhimpalasi by Tarpapada? Thanks for the comment. There is some Joshi and Tarapada files on this site.
dear Swaroop, is it possible to share recordings of ‘taleem session in Bhimpalashi, Gaur Sarang by amir khan & a general rec. of Bhavkauns’ – as you mentioned in your response? they sound like something completely new to me ! thanks

thanks!
Wonderful VK Lalit & RMM Patdeep. Thanks for sharing.
hello aftab, thanks for yet another collection of rare gems.
abdul rashid khan sahib’s short rendition of nayaki is outstanding. seems like its from a live session. do you have the rest of the concert?
my uncle is a disciple of khan sahib and would like to hear more of him.
I have a few tracks from the same session- I think he was 103 years old….just shortly before he died. Having that stamina is amazing. I didn’t expect it to be this impressive. I will upload the other tracks here, shortly.
There are a few short ones here:

thanks for your reply. indeed he has a unbelievable stamina even now. you will be amazed to hear that he is still alive at 105 and he still teaches a handful of blessed pupils regularly.
Thanks for such a beautiful collection. Especially for Ustad Chand Khan Sahabs’ Maru Bihag 🙂
Please post whatever unpublished material you have of Bade ghulam ali khan sahib. That marwa is supreme music.
Dear/Pyara Aftab Datta Mahantji

All music lovers are waiting for Eid Treat.
Ahiri (Todi) is certainly notby Amir Khan Sahib, I dunno who, but not him. However, thanks for sharing.
Aftab, thanks for sharing a wonderful treasure rove of recordings. I’m currently working on the Dilli gharana and want to ask you whether you have any other recordings of Ustad Chand Khansahib apart from the Maru Behag posted above or any other recordings of vocalists from the same gharana. Thanks! 🙂
@Irfan:
email me at aftabdatta@gmail.com
The rec. named Amir Khan-Ahiri, is not Ustad Amir Khan saheb singing but he is Pt. Baldevraj Verma fr. Delhi–(shagird of B,N, Datta and PT. Amarnath.!
Ahiri is certainly sung by Rasiklal Andhariya, not Amir Khan Saheb.
That Bhairav marked as being Shahida Parveen sounds supiciously like Kishori Amonkar.
